London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom and is home to some of the world's most famous and visually appealing attractions. While many of these attractions are incredible in their own right, they are often referred to as cliche's, but this by far does not lower their worthiness of visitation.

Some of London's most cliche attractions include:

1. Buckingham Palace

As the official home to the British monarch, Buckingham Palace is a prominent London attraction that is visited by thousands every single day. Boasting the largest private garden in London and spanning a massive 24 meters in height, and 120 meters in length, this historic structure is nice to look at but doesn't really offer much more.

2. The Changing of the Guard

One of the busiest times of day at Buckingham Palace is without a doubt the Changing of the Guard. This ceremony generally runs for around 40 minutes and takes place within the palace walls.

This spectacle of parading, music and of course the changing of the Queen's Guards, brings in thousands of eager tourists, making it quite a struggle to actually see any of the action.

3. Big Ben

The title "Big Ben" was affectionately adopted for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster, and now also refers to the actual clock tower.

This Neo-gothic style building attracts thousands of tourists, mainly owing to its unique history, its prominent size and its familiar chiming sound.

4. Trafalgar Square

Located in central London, this tourist attraction is one of the most famous squares in the United Kingdom.

Home to some truly remarkable buildings, with its centre guarded by four magnificent lion statues, this square is also the gateway to the National Gallery, another of London's most famous attractions.

5. London Eye

Experience London from 135 meters high in the sky when you embark on a flight on the London Eye. This spectacular Ferris wheel-like structure takes you high above London's sights in a large capsule, which will give you ultimate 360 degrees of the city.

Keep in mind though that this is a pricey attraction, with prices starting at £17.88 for adults.

6. The Tower of London

Visit the tower of London and you will discover The White Tower, the history of the fortress, crown jewels, a prisoner's exhibition and so much more.

The tower itself is also visiually remarkable and by itself is a great attraction to visit.

7. London Bridge

Made famous by the song of the same title, London Bridge rests between the city of London and Southwark. On the south side of the bridge, tourists will find Southwark Cathedral and the London Bridge Station, while on the north rests the Monument to the Great Fire of London and Monument Tube Station.

8. Westminster Abbey

Welcoming 1 million visitors each year, Westminster Abbey has seen the likes of kings, queens, statesmen and soldiers; poets, priests, heroes and villains pass through its walls.

This top tourist attraction is a truly remarkable structure which takes a good few hours to explore. Browse rooms such as Henry VII's Lady Chapel, the High Alter and St Catherine's Garden Chapel and you will soon discover what all the fuss is about.

9. Tower Bridge

Positioned over the River Thames, Tower Bridge consists of 2 towers that are tied together on an upper level by two horizontal walkways. Take a walk over the bridge or simply take some snaps from afar!

10. Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
